About

Biography

The tug of war between what’s in my mind and what I have the ability to create fuels my existence.

Growing up too fast as a latchkey kid in the city of Atlanta with unencumbered access to the internet, I found art was a way to frolic in my discomfort. Through mixed media, I explore themes of culture, adolescence, and ambivalence through the lens of my own fragmented identity. I transform intangible emotions into tangible works, which helps me know myself and the world around me in a way nothing else could. Whether it be through painting, textile, sculpture, collage, or any other form it takes, my practice is an explosive amalgamation of shadow self and persona.

I’m a Thai, American, Southern, Gen Z, fun-loving, knowledge-seeking, chronically online queer, desperately trying to find a way to communicate and connect. What’s on my mind becomes my focus, and whatever may be around at the time becomes my medium. I let the piece lead and tell me what it wants to be: a gentle, delicate dance or a rough and rowdy rumpus. I use bold colors and contrasting textures as building blocks, inspired by colloquial craft methods and traditional Thai aesthetics. Lai Thai, kranok patterns, and the neon textiles of northern Thailand inform my work, while Bible Belt ideals shape my perspective. Every piece is pulled from the depths of my being to the surface of my fingertips. When I make art, I am simply playing with myself.
